The funny thing about having a baby is that you spend SO MUCH TIME TOGETHER with your spouse, but almost none of it is truly alone.
The first few weeks are what I call, “Constant Baby Time”. 24 hours a day you’re together one way or another thinking about the baby. You get a little bit of quiet during nap time (🙌🙌🙌 @takingcarababies…seriously), but you’re still accompanied by the constant white noise of the baby monitor.
Eventually, they start going to bed early (again…@takingcarababies 😴🙌😴), but you’ve still got bath time, work time, and dinner time. Before you know it, 10 o’clock has rolled around and you’re ready to pass out.
The good thing is, I can truly say I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Navigating this with my wife has been a blast, an adventure, a tear-jerker, and everything in between.
But, I can also equally say I’m looking forward to the first time it’s just us, enjoying a glass of wine in these adirondacks, while talking endlessly about how much we can’t wait to see our baby again.
